Snooty the manatee was a beloved mascot of my home town Bradenton, FL. With his unexpected passing I was inspired to create a poster for his memorial.
The Ambassador of Endangered Species
Every project always starts with a rough sketch to visualize where I'm going with the design. The font was an exploration of handwritten type from a online exercise I was taking by Jon Contino.
In the end I chose to invert the manatee layout and create the facial feature to look more like Snooty rather than a generic cute manatee I initially drew.
